Apologies for late reply. Just to clarify your question if you want to learn Karen or Karenni. You mentioned Karenni language, but you work with Karens. If it's Karen that you want to learn, it will be easier to find resources in the States. As for Karenni, you might be able to find private tutoring session, but I have never come across any basic Karenni language book.

Does anyone there know how I may learn at least some basic Karenni. I am working with some recent Karen immigrants, and I would love to have at least some basic knowledge of the language. Any good sites or programs?

Hello, my name is Wes Hilton and I am the Interpreter Recruiter for Certified Languages International, an interpreting company. We are currently looking to add telephone interpreters to interpret part-time between English and Kayah, and I was wondering if you knew of anyone who might be qualified for such a position and interested in it.

This position offers good pay, flexible hours, and, perhaps most importantly, the ability to help Karenni immigrants deal with a variety of important situations in the United States. Additionally, all of our interpreters are independent contractors who work from home and set their own hours. This is a relatively easy and fun job for someone who speaks one of these languages as well as English and lives in the United States - no prior interpreting experience is required.

It has been very hard to find qualified interpreters for this language so far, so any help in this matter would be extremely appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for any possible help in this matter. Please feel free to call me at (800)362-3241, ext. 311 or write me an e-mail at wes@certifiedlanguages.com.

Best regards,
Wes Hilton, Interpreter Recruiter

I am a teacher in a Newcomer class in San Antonio, Tx. I recently enrolled a new Karenni student. Thank you so very much for posting these videos so I can see how her life was before she came to America. The videos made me smile!!
